The Aovo Pro and its ES-series siblings are among the most popular budget commuter scooters in the UK — light, foldable and easy to live with. As with any scooter in daily use, a few faults tend to appear over time. The good news is that most are well understood and fixable, usually with a single replacement part rather than a new scooter.

1. Aovo won't turn on
A completely unresponsive Aovo is usually a power or battery issue rather than a serious fault.
Quick checks first: make sure it's charged, hold the power button for a full 2–3 seconds, and check the scooter hasn't been left so flat that the battery has gone into protection mode — leave it charging for an hour and try again.
If it still won't power on: the usual suspects are a failing battery or a faulty controller. If range had been dropping before it died, suspect the battery; if it cut out suddenly mid-ride and never returned, suspect the controller. 2. Aovo won't charge or loses charge quickly
If the scooter powers on but won't charge — or the range has dropped noticeably — there are two likely causes.
The charger: test this first, as it's the cheaper fix. Plug the charger into the wall on its own and check its indicator light. If there's no light, or the light never changes when connected to the scooter, the charger may have failed. A replacement charger costs far less than a battery — just match the voltage to your original.
The battery: if the charger is fine but range is poor, or the charger goes green almost immediately, the battery is likely worn out. Lithium batteries degrade with every charge cycle, so after a couple of years a replacement is the normal fix. 3. Loss of power or cutting out
If your Aovo suddenly loses power, cuts out, or struggles where it used to pull — especially on inclines — the cause is usually one of these:
- Battery: a worn battery can't deliver power under load, so cut-outs often appear on hills or under hard acceleration.
- Controller: a failing controller causes intermittent power loss or sudden cut-outs, sometimes after water exposure.
- Motor: less common, but a worn hub motor can cause power loss and unusual noises.

4. Brake problems
Brake faults are among the most important to address quickly on any scooter.
Weak or spongy braking: usually worn brake pads or a cable that needs adjusting or replacing. Pads are a wear item and need periodic replacement.
Squealing or grinding: often a worn disc or contaminated pads, which should be replaced rather than ridden on.

5. Flat or worn tyres
The Aovo typically runs pneumatic tyres, which are prone to punctures. If you're tired of flats, many Aovo owners switch to solid or honeycomb tyres for a puncture-proof ride — just check the size matches.

6. Display or dashboard issues
If the Aovo's display flickers, stays dark, or behaves erratically, it's commonly water ingress (the dashboard sits exposed on the handlebars) or a loose connection. Reseat the connection and let it dry fully; if a dried, reseated display still won't work, a replacement may be needed. 7. Folding mechanism or stem wobble
Over time the Aovo's folding hinge can develop play, causing a wobble at the stem. This is usually an adjustment or a worn folding clamp rather than a serious fault — but sort it promptly, as stem wobble affects handling and safety.
